Large Group Active Learning (LGAL)
The school has developed a workshop series aimed at helping you become more efficient and organized in a standard way as you prepare to teach in a large group active learning session (LGAL). These sessions were developed by the Office of Medical Education (OME) and Faculty Development (FD) and propose a standard rubric for developing your LGAL’s with a special focus on the quantity, selection and preparation of pre-work for the students. Pre-work is explicitly linked to the development of active teaching methodologies to engage students in the sessions. Clinical cases with higher order questions, small group breakout activities, polling questions and the use of concept mapping are also demonstrated.
